Hello from Vancouver. I hope you are well in this crazy world and hopefully life is getting back to some sort of normalcy for you. It's been a busy start to the year. The third Nathaniel Rane book, Once A Hero, came out in March and has been doing well and getting great reviews and ratings. One reader said, "This book is so amazing! Perfect amount of action, story, and character. Rane is a bad ass guy." Another review commented, "Gory, intense and just what the doctor ordered!" I've also renamed the series The Cursed Sword Saga to better capture the epic adventure Nathaniel is on. .I've also written a new short story set in the same world, featuring a bounty hunter called Malik Khan. It's called YOU CAN'T HIDE and is available if you sign up for my newsletter. I plan to write more short stories over the next few months so it's worth subscribing. Finally, I've not forgotten dear old Jack Frey ...
Hi.
I hope you're having a great start to the year (or as great as it can be in this crazy world). Mine's not been as wonderful as I'd hoped. I headed into the holiday season desperate for a break and some much needed rest. Like everyone, I've found the last two years utterly exhausting. Trying to balance family, writing and my day job had certainly taken its toll on me. However, despite being a family of dedicated mask wearers and vaccinated, COVID-19 managed to find my house at long last. First my wife became sick, then me, then my children. At first we thought it would be a mild illness (and for the kids it was) however, for both my wife and I had a stronger reaction to it. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad as it could've been, but it was bad enough. It's now week 4 and I'm just starting to feel better and able to get some writing down but that has put me behind schedule. The original plan was to release ONCE A HERO at the end of January. Unfortunately, there's too much work to get done to make that happen. I've set a new tentative release date of 28th February but it might be even be a week or so later than that. I'm really sorry— especially after being away from the worlds of Nathaniel Rane and Jack Frey for so long- but it is only a temporary blip. The Hunted has been out in the world for about two weeks now and I'm really happy with how it's been received. All the ratings so far have been 4 or 5 stars. One review said "A great addition to the series that I was looking forward to, and it didn't disappointment. Eagerly awaiting the 3rd entry." After being away for such a long time, it's great to see people still want to read my little adventures. Book 3 will be out at the end of January and, this time, Nathaniel Rane visits the frozen north in search of the mage that cursed his soul. After that, I'm hopping back to the world of Jack Frey as he battles the evil vampire race known as the Nostros. I promise I'm doing my best to make up for lost time,
Wow. Day 3 of the HE WHO FIGHTS sale and we managed another 1,000 downloads and made no 1 in Dark Fantasy. To say I'm blown away is an understatement. Thank you to everyone grabbing a copy. It means a lot to me.
What a day. After yesterday's soft launch of HE WHO FIGHTS free promo, today really kicked off. It was featured in Freebooksy's email and from the moment, the email hit, things got crazy. As of now, HWF has been downloaded over 1200 times and reach no 1 in Epic Fantasy and no 2 in both Dark Fantasy and Sword and Sorcery categories on Amazon. Tomorrow it's featured in Book Barbarian's email so it'll be interesting to see what happens there.
To celebrate the return of Nathaniel Rane, the ebook is FREE all this week on Amazon. It also features an exclusive excerpt from book 2, THE HUNTED, too. I'm really excited for new readers to discover the world of Nathaniel Rane.
After such a long break, it's exciting to see a new book slowly become a reality. New covers as well that look really good. THE HUNTED is a fun, action-packed fantasy that hopefully will keep the pages turning. Pre-order your copy here:
I'm really excited about the next few months. I'm relaunching the Nathaniel Rane series with a new cover to HE WHO FIGHTS and a sale, then next month (November) Book 2, THE HUNTED, will come out, followed relatively soon after that with book 3, entitled (for now) THE WANTED MAN. Then it's onto CRY WAR. I'm really grateful for everyone's patience with me! Hopefully the books will be a lot of fun.
Anyone else watching/enjoying SEE on Apple TV. I'm totally hooked (as long as I don't think too much about how they can do things like hunt and grow food without any difficulty). The fights are extremely well done. I've started watching FOUNDATION. It looks beautiful but I'm not sure I understand the plot yet! And of course, TED LASSO is just happiness. Yes, after an age, there are new books coming very soon. He Who Fights is going to be relaunched in October with a new cover and will include the first few chapters of Nathaniel Rane book 2. That book will be released at the beginning of November with book 3 (hopefully) will be out in December.
And, all being well, I should be well on the way with CRY WAR for release early in 2022. I know its been ages since the last books came out and I can only apologise for that. 2020 and 2021 did not go as planned fro any of us. But I'm having a lot of fun writing at the moment - which I can't say was the case for the last couple of years. When the real world is a dark place, it makes it very difficult to be creative. |
